THE UNIQUE OPEN SEA RACE ACROSS THE MED

Again for its fifth edition, the Izmir Cup which was previously the Cap Istanbul traces a route from the Mediterranean to its final stage finish in Izmir, Turkey. The city is an exciting juxtaposition of modern, contemporary business centres, but with a very visible, important historical heritage, Izmir is really a truly multifaceted Turkish city. Located in the north on the Aegean Cost, Turkey’s third city benefits from its geographical situation as well as modern port facilities, but so too it is a haven for sailing and boating enthusiasts.

This race, which has long since become one of the reference races on the top professional sailors’ itineraries, all sailing on identical Class Figaro Bénéteau boats, has proven a great sports and media success over the course of its four previous editions and will be again the Final race of the French Championship of Solo Offshore Racing.

With five stopovers in four different countries (France, Italy, Greece and Turkey), the Izmir Cup is considered the biggest offshore race in Mediterranean by the skippers, their sponsoring partners, and the press on an international level.
